Easily Understood

I was issued these books as part of my paramedic program. I haven't looked at any other books of this type, but I will say that the way the author lays out the different rythms and covers them in such a way, that it makes it easy for the beginner student to understand. The pocket reference is great and is small enough to carry with you for fast reference. Highly recommended.

Great book for people just starting to interpret ECGs

If you have always seen the tele monitors in the hospital and don't know what the zigzag on it means, this is the book you need when you have to take an intensive critical care course.
This was a required text for my critical care course and amazon did a good job shipping it on time.
I liked the book and as many times as i've studied conduction in my A&P classes, the fact that i'm a physics and chemistry person makes me forget certain stuff in bio. This book does such a good job of explaining conduction in making you really understand what happens in various stages like depolirazion and repolization. I like the approach because you kinda need to know which ions are coming out at each phase so you'll know when to prescribe a calcium channel blocker for a patient and when to prescribe a class II or II antiarrhythmic.

I didn't get time to use the CD because time moves so fast when you're under stress but i did love the pocket companion and the only thing is that it doesn't tell you the treatments in it. You'll have to look at the big book itself to know how to treat a 3rd degree block. I never thought i'd be able to get the heart blocks down in my head but thanks to this book i did.

Just a little thing i'll share with readers, here's one way to remember a wenkenbach. It goes "longer, longer, longer, longer, then you have a wenkenbach."

the P-r interval keeps getting longer and longer till you finally dorp a qrs. My instructor sang it in a silly way and i thought i'd share it. In that way you'll recognize a Mobitz type I when you see one.
I tried different ECG books and this one one worked for me.

Worth it

I did my medical degree back in the 90's. We had a cardiology professor who told us we were not to use this bookThe ECG Made Easy, that it was terrible and inaccurate and inadequate and lots of other things that meant we shouldn't use it. He told us he would fail us if we used this book. For some reason though, despite his and others tutorials and lectures, I could never understand ECGs. I was desperate! So I bought this book. It was small enough to memorise. I set out to memorise it, one to two pages per day. I think it took me a few weeks to do. And it meant I could finally interpret ECGs. I got through my exams, and even better I could still interpret basic ECGs during my intern year. I think what that cardiology professor never understood is that everyone has to start somewhere and if you can master the basics then you have something solid to build on.

A Good Text Book for Computer Science & Engineering Students

Network is boring. But this book seems to be the first one that explains tedious network acronyms with easy language, combines fundamental theory with practical programming applications: telephone, telecommunications, TCP/IP, wireless, optical, switching, management, performance, security, and network programming.
The mixture of Linux and Window platforms also fit well with the project-oriented approach. Lots and lots of figures and examples definitely help, too.
This is also the first computer/network book with a curriculum sponsored by the NSF. (Forgive me if I am wrong);
Complaint? Well, still, network is still boring, at least compared to rock-'n'-roll.

A good book for both hands-on experiences and knowledge.

The book illustrates the fundamental theory and the state of art technologies in network and communication area. The most attractive is that it provides thoughtfully designed laboratory projects which are very useful to get hands-on experiences. The step by step instructions and trouble-shooting for the projects are extremely helpful for both beginners and experienced readers. What to be learned from this book can be utilized in a real world environment easily.

the worst book I have ever used!

The book does not have enough solved problems (only a few but do not have any good explanation anyway). For the questions at the end of the chapter, the author asks stuff that he has never even mentioned in the chapter. Believe me this is a boring book.

smarty pants

This is a wonderful way to enhance your vocabulary. The two people who do the voices are fun to listen too. I listen while I drive in traffic and I have really been impacted by the new knowledge of words! It makes such a difference when conversing, having a larger vocabulary.

Great for someone in junior high, high school or someone who is learning English as a second language. It would be better if the words were more difficult. The immature stories are hard to enjoy. Word Master is better.

These are usually excellent, but not this one

I have about 10 of these books and they are usually excellent, with a good coverage of sights to see, places to go, shops etc. Maybe this city changes a lot more than most, but a lot of the recommended places have closed, or the crowd has moved on.

Also, the map is almost useless.

They have missed a lot of good restaurants that I would thought they should have covered.

Would suggest buying a more complete guide from others.

Invaluable as both study companion and reference book

I purchased this book as study material for my IASSC Green Belt exam. The methods and techniques in this book are fairly standard and I found only minor differences between it and the outlined curriculum for IASSC.

The first few chapters are slow but I believe important. Strictly speaking, however, I think you might skip ahead to the "Define" chapter without too much harm.

Even after achieving my certification, I have frequently referenced sections of this book as a six sigma practitioner. It has pride of place on my desk beside my laptop because it plays a vital role in my daily work.

Further, the bibliography provides a well-curated list of further reading. This text has been a gateway to professional development. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

I haven't quite finished this book yet, but it's much more interesting and easy to read than I expected! I hope that this will prepare me well for certification in the near future. I would definitely recommend the book for reading and reference.

Marvelous

I never was good with words, that's part of the reason why I respect authors so much. Theirs imagination and that world of theirs, is just marvelous.

Anyway, what I was saying words is not my strong point. So, I'm not going to do justice to this story enough with my review. And if you had read already any of Lilas books, I don't think I need to say much. You already know how captivating and fun and adventurous her stories is. You already know this story, like the previous is must read.

And if you not had pleasure to be living Hawks journey, you need to jump into this ride. Because you're missing so much.

So, this No Way Out have is intriguing and enchanting and exciting and...Well, I just could continue to sing prices. But you could be reading all of it, instead of me keeping you of the story with my bubbling.

Our biker hero, Stoke is...I don't have words enough to describe him. He's badass, yeah. But also he's can be so sweet, caring and loving...

At the beginning, Stoke tried to fight his feelings, because he burned previously and don't wanna to be on that path again. But that fight wasn't for long. Because no one could be stronger that this pull he had for Malinda. And the way Stoke was with her it was...Just...Yeah, I'm crushing on him. And then add the way he's with Malindas children and you hit the f****** golden mine. Damn, where those kind of men are hiding? I need one like Stoke. Actuality all Hawks man are extraordinary. They live hardcore biker life, but when they meet theirs 'the one', the woman is the luckiest lady in the whole universe.

And our H, Malinda had not easiest life. With the ex husband as hers. And that snipped of her 21st birthday...It crashed my heart. When she's out of biker husband life, she thought no way ever she will had anything to do with bikers again. But then she meets Hawks and the Muffkaters. And they show that bikers can be the bast family you ever could have. They supporting and protecting her and her children. They make her smile and find out what truly friends means. But what really make her start to live again is Stoke. He mends her shattered and bleeding heart. Actually he heals not only Malindas heart but her children's, too. They finally knows what fatherly love is like. *Sighs* The man is just breathtaking. And if that don't makes you crush on Stoke, then you're made of stone.

There's some s*** are hitting the fan. A gift *feel my sarcasm here* Malindas husband left. Which puts her and her children in danger. Stoks and the rest of the Hawks have to take care off it.

There is some hints on whit some characters. Which I couldn't wait to see where Lila will take us with it.

Oh, there shows up duplicate of Deanna. Mrs. Cliff. The woman is the s***. And the bigggest nightmare for our bikers. They run from her as theirs sexy feet carries them. Lol.

The Muffkaters is as awesome as ever. They're such a big part of the story. And sometimes such a pain in the bikers a***s. I love them! Both. The posses and the bikers.

And also there's...Mmm...Maybe I will stop here. Because you really do not need to waste your time here and just go and spend your time with another consuming Hawks biker.

Lila Rose has done it again!!! I'm telling you, this series just keeps getting better and better!!! From the very first page I was hooked and could not put it down till the very end.

Along with Julian, there is some really awesome and amazing secondary characters in this series! Do you love Deanna and her wild mouth attitude? Wait till you meet Mrs. Cliff!!! Holy cow that woman was a freaking hoot!!! She will def give the Hawks MC a run for their money and have you laughing your butt off!!

Love me some Stoke!!

I just love the Hawks MC!! All of the main characters of each story along with the supporting characters are well developed and compliment one another.

Malinda is the wife of Hawks MC member, Tank. On one night many years ago he effectively destroys the love between him and Malinda and becomes indifferent to his two children. Tank is not well liked in the MC, spending his time partying hard and using the club whores. But this story isn't really about Tank, it's about Malinda whom none of the MC members were aware of until the day of Tank's funeral. Deciding that she needed to be brought into their fold and protect her from whatever was behind Tank's death, they enlist Julian and the women.

Declan Stoke, known just as Stoke to his brothers, is a great guy and we learned that in prior books in the series. After dating Helen who was Ivy's best friend and seeing her cheat on him, he swears off anything permanent until he sees Malinda. With the MC offering protection, Stoke is able to get past Malinda's walls and easily opens his heart to her and her children.

What you get with the Hawk's MC is a deep sense of family and loyalty. While there is always trouble brewing, this is not your typical MC read. These books are filled with laughs, tears, and happy endings. If you haven't become part of the Hawk's family, I highly recommend that you read this extraordinary series!!

About the Author

Gilly Macmillan is the Edgar Nominated and New York Times bestselling author of What She Knew. She grew up in Swindon, Wiltshire and lived in Northern California in her late teens. She worked at The Burlington Magazine and the Hayward Gallery before starting a family. Since then she's worked as a part-time lecturer in photography, and now writes full-time. She resides in Bristol, England.

Loved, loved, loved it! Creepy and intriguing. Could not put it down!

Rachael is a divorced photographer and she and her son, Ben, are in the woods not unlike any other Sunday. Ben asks if he can run ahead to the swings. She says sure. When she reaches the swings, Ben is gone. Nowhere to be found.

This is a story of looking for Ben. It is unlike any other story I have read about a child who has been abducted. Sure, they are looking for Ben, but there is a lot of focus on the mother. Everyone suspects the mother. The media gets involved, blogs go up, and a lot of anonymous hateful people have their say.

It's also different in the affect that it has on the main police detective as there are sessions with his therapist during the book. Apparently this case took a toll on him. A lot of the book deals with how he deals with the abduction and with the people he's looking for and the people he questions.

It's like a lot of the book deals with the mother and the main detective and their thoughts, feelings and what they are doing to get Ben back. The mother takes a lot of abuse as everyone thinks she did it, which of course, is very hard on her. And then she finds out different things about her support team during this journey that doesn't help her a bit.

This was definitely a different look at how most abduction novels read and I cannot believe this was a debut novel! This was definitely a winner in my book. I just could not put it down as I had to know who took Ben. The list of suspects is long with the mother right there pointing the police in the right direction every time.

I definitely recommend this book!!!

Not to be missed

Set in Bristol in 2012-2013, this is the first-hand account of 8-year-old Ben's disappearance from the point-of-view of his mother Rachel Jenner and the investigating detective Jim Clemo. It is an intimate look into their minds in the period preceding and following Ben's disappearance. Rachel addresses the reader directly, while Jim's account is in the form of his interviews with (and confidential reports to) his department psychologist.

The characters are all described in great detail, along with their extensive back-stories. While not totally necessary, this does provide some depth to the story and makes us feel like we know them. The author may be setting the scene for a series of follow-up books featuring the same characters. The story itself is told in an interesting format, which includes narrative as well as blog posts, emails, interviews, and reports. During the investigation, we discover that everyone is hiding a secret - but who's hiding Ben? Everyone is a suspect: Rachel's sister Nicky, Rachel's ex-husband John, John's new wife Katrina, as well as anyone who had contact with Ben at school. Even the title of the book gives us the impression that Rachel may not be a reliable narrator. Could she herself be responsible for Ben's disappearance? I must admit that when I see a story like this on the news, I usually suspect the mother first.

This is a suspenseful and exciting story, one that will keep you reading until the end, which is both realistic and satisfying. The story is followed by an interview with the author, reading group discussion questions, and a list of Gilly's ten favorite page turners.

This is one not to be missed.

Spectacular debut

The plot of What She Knew is simple on its face. Young Ben Finch suddenly disappears while on a walk through a familiar park with his recently divorced mother, Rachel Jenner, and the family dog. What follows is the harrowing tale of the search for Ben, told directly to the reader by Rachel, and to a police department psychologist by lead detective, Jim Clemo.

As the clock ticks, many people in law enforcement and in Ben's family are forced to reveal secrets. Rachel is accused of being a bad mother, which she now begins to believe. After all, if she had kept Ben at her side rather than giving him a taste of freedom, this would not have occurred. She is forced to deal with her ex-husband's new wife, realizing that she has been unfair.

When her sister drops a bombshell, Rachel feels that she can trust nobody. When Jim Clemo's girlfriend devastates him with her secret, he is shattered. Ultimately everyone surrounding Ben becomes suspect, and trust issues abound.

This is a realistic page-turner. I felt as though I were in the middle of a law enforcement investigation, complete with blog and Facebook posts, and I gained even more sympathy for a family to which this crime has happened. I look forward to Gilly Macmillan's next book.

Absolutely essential read for dating

I love how the author gives simple but powerful guidelines on how we need to respect ourselves no matter what.
I just broke up with a boyfriend that was all that...handsome, tall, smart, successful, but he was not reciprocating all that I was giving (more than him) so thanks to the advice of this book, I pulled the plug. As Painful as it is, is also empowering because I and only myself decide the kind of relationship I want and I know I deserve unconditional love. Not making excuses because he is handsome and smart and phDoctor all that. He is not treating me right, his mediocre, half butt efforts are not enough...he got kicked to the curb. It hurts but it would hurt more staying with someone undeserving.
Thanks to the author for opening my eyes.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD READ THIS BOOK. It does not matter if you are single or married, this book will provide valuable information.

If ONLY this book had been available in my 20's, it would have saved me a boat load of misery. Still, at my moderate age of 58 (chuckles), it provided me information that I had never before contemplated or realized. It is very informative and highly educational. I would recommend this book to ALL high school senior girls. It will give them incredible insight on how to select the men who will be a part of their lives.
